ACCESSIBILITY

A site for everyone.
WCAG 2.2, Level AA.

We want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever device, ability or language they bring.

THE STANDARD WE USE

WCAG 2.2
Level AA.

We design and test this website against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the W3C. WCAG is the basis of the European standard EN 301 549, which the European Accessibility Act and Estonian accessibility requirements refer to.

Conformance status: partially conformant. The pages we build meet WCAG 2.2 AA in our automated and manual checks; some older original lessons do not yet fully conform (see below).

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Keyboard access everywhere, with a visible focus outline and a skip link
  • Display settings: text size, light or dark theme, and reduced motion
  • Motion stops automatically when your device asks for reduced motion; the slideshow has a pause button
  • Text and controls meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast, and touch targets are at least 24 by 24 pixels
  • Headings, landmarks and labels for screen readers, in English, Arabic (right to left) and Estonian
  • Videos are decorative and silent; every image that carries meaning has a text alternative

KNOWN LIMITATIONS

Where we are
still working.

  • Some original interactive lessons and games were created before this standard was adopted and may not yet be fully accessible. We are reviewing them one by one.
  • The Arabic and Estonian translations of the original lessons are in progress.
  • The SAFI Live demo is a technical demonstration and may be hard to use with a screen reader.

HOW WE CHECK

Tested, not assumed.

Every release is checked with the open-source axe-core engine against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 A and AA rules, and by hand with a keyboard, on phones and tablets, and in right-to-left Arabic.

This statement was prepared on 29 October 2026 and is reviewed with every major release.
